Camber, Rye and on to Battle

Back from a lovely weekend on the South coast, starting off with a stroll along Camber Sands, among the shingle and the dunes and some lovely homes overlooking the sea. Followed by a visit to the historic and beautiful town of Rye – full of quaint lanes and byways and even a trip up the narrowest of stairs to look out over the lichen covered rooftops of Rye towards the estuary. Horizontal wooden cladding is typical of the localĀ  buildings, giving things a definite nautical feel. The following day we had an 8 mile walk through the beautiful countryside along the 1066 Walking Route from our farmhouse barn accommodation to the town of Battle and the site of the Battle of Hastings. A glorious weekend to enjoy the scenery, mild weather, the great outdoors, good food and great company.
